If you're interested in history and want to get in on the ground floor of a developing museum, consider volunteering.
It took many hands to get the museum open in April, 2010, and more volunteer opportunities will open as time goes by. Right now, we have work waiting for
archives assistants. Archives assistants are curatorial volunteers who help speed record-keeping and other caretaking duties. An archive assistant gets to see artifacts as they come in and helps make sure objects, papers, and photographs are properly documented and cared for.
To become a volunteer, first read about the specific duties, then download and print the application form. Mail or bring in the completed form to 1731 First Avenue North (Young & Vann Building), on the corner of First Avenue North and 18th Street in downtown Birmingham.
Or, call for more information, (205) 202-4146.
