The Birmingham History Center is located on the corner of First Avenue North and 18th Street (1731 First Avenue North) within the historic Young and Vann building on the western edge of Birmingham's city center. Within walking distance of restaurants and city landmarks, the newly opened museum is only a few blocks from the McWane Science Center, the Alabama Theatre, the city's historic Fourth Avenue black business district, civil rights sites and Birmingham Civil Rights Institute.

Start your visit by paying admission at the office next to the museum, in suite 120. Staff will show you to the exhibits and answer any questions. For added interest, a series of downloadable self guides, below, will help enhance the visit for adults visiting with children.
